Coconut Oil

I used to get really bad allergies every Spring time. My eyes would get all itchy and watery and I'd suffer for weeks. So what do we all do to relieve the issue? We pop down allergy pills like candy to get some temporary reliefs to go outside. But once again, they only cure the symptoms but never the cause. I think most of us repeat this BS routine every year which is what the pharmaceuticals want. Life time memberships.

A couple years back, I found some articles online about coconut oil. One Spring, I decided to skip the allergy pills and see if I could bear it alone and hoped my immune system would magically cure it but that quickly went downhill. I could barely open my eyes and to make matters worse, it started getting puffy under my eyes from all the rubbing. Finally decided to try the coconut oil treatment which I bought ahead of time for this occasion and wow, was it ever fast acting. It soothed the itching completely. Swellings under the eyes started to go down a few hours later. However, as the oil would dry off, I had to repeat the applications a few more times. After a day or so, I was able to go outside and enjoy the weather and whatever that was causing the allergy did not re-occur. The next year after that, I still got a bit of itchiness in my eyes but they were way more bearable. So I quickly apply more coconut oil. However, this Spring, I did not need to apply at all. I think I am finally allergy free from Spring.

When applying the coconut oil on your eyes, focus near the tear ducts.

My son recently also had an episode of rubbing his eyes when he went outside and thus always wanted to stay indoors. I quickly applied the coconut oil on him and within 5 minutes, he stopped rubbing and asked for more when it dried up. He no longer gets itchy eyes when playing outside. I also applied it on his eczema on his chin and it appears to help as it stops him from scratching and thus gives his skin time to heal. However, this eczema battle is not yet won but looks promising with Hydrogen Peroxide and better diet.

I've also found that it works on mosquito bites. I first clean the bite with Hydrogen Peroxide and then apply the coconut oil. It soothes the itching so you don't scratch and then the bite seems to heal a lot quicker. Within days instead of weeks.

To avoid insect bites, you can put about 10 drops of peppermint extract into a half cup of somewhat melted coconut oil and then mix thoroughly. Once it solidifies in normal room temperature, you can apply the mixture to your exposed skin. Now you're ready for outdoor summer activities without having to worry about covering up. As for avoiding the Sun, do not use any Sun tan lotion. Just find a shade when it gets too hot but try to let your skin get darker gradually. Once your skin has adapted to the heat, you won't have to worry about getting a Sun burn or feeling too hot under the Sun anymore.
