How to Optimize your Network Card
I have noticed that after making these changes, the initial caching of watching an online streamed video is much larger and thus providing a smoother stream. Just test the before and after with YouTube by watching a HD video. You'll see the difference. Also, the initial transfer of large files over the LAN is very fast. This feature does not exist for WIFI. I believe WIFI uses BURSTS.
Basically, go to the properties of your NIC | Configure | Advanced | then max out Receive and Transmit buffers. Seems to be only available to Intel brand.
1) Receive Buffer
2) Transmit Buffer
3) Jumbo Frame ( Only enable if all devices are enabled including your switches and routers). It actually reduces your LAN speed if conditions are not met.
Enjoy!

I have been modifying my virtual machines NIC and it really does improve performance. For Linux, use "sudo ethtool -G eth0 rx 4096 tx 4096".
